3 Things You’re Not Cleaning Enough

In a world covered in germs and bacteria we strive to have clean homes, with hopes to keep ourself and family healthy. With flu season right around the corner, I thought I should try to prevent getting sick. Even when you feel like your home is clean, there are still places we forget bacteria and germs thrive. I know, I know. *sigh* More cleaning to add to the list. *insert eye-roll here* That being said, lets jump right into this!

remote control

1. Remote Control- I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned my remote until today. But, oh boy, I will now! A study done by Dr. Charles Gerba, at the environmental microbiology department at the University of Arizona, showed that remotes usually have more germs than a toilet seat. Gross! Also, they usually carry all kinds of viruses. We cough on, sneeze on, sit on, drop, and lose our remotes. I don’t know why we don’t clean them more!

2. Door knobs- According to www.healthywaukesha.com “Door handles are one of the most common harbourers for harmful germs and bacteria, causing infections to spread such as E.coli, Staphylococcus Aureas, plus fungal and viral infections.” I mean, this is pretty common knowledge but I forget. Mine don’t get cleaned enough because, I just don’t think about it enough.

3. Cell phone- Yep, I thought my phone was clean. I wipe it clean several times a day but It’s not enough. The average phone has 18x more bacteria than a than public toilet. That’s really gross. I mean, we hover when using a public restroom but we put something 18dirtier right on our face. If you’re not sure how to clean your phone you can get a UV sanitizer here.
