How To Decorate – DIY Rustic Console Table

Does anyone else have a awkward wall in their home that you don’t know what to do with? I did. Thankfully I have a pretty handy husband who built an AWESOME console table that I painted and stained. If you want the DIY plans find them here.

We wanted a rustic style table so I stained the top, painted it with white latex paint and sanded most of the paint off, and then put stain on top of it again. We modified the original plans to move the “x panel” to the very back rather than having it in the middle. We did this so we could place extra chair behind it if we ever wanted extra seating.

And for the base I painted it with the white latex paint and sanded it to show the grain of the wood.

We knew that we wanted lamps on both sides, but we didn’t want the cords to hang on the open back to where you could see them.  So we screwed them down using cord hooks.

We added a mirror and some decorative stuff in the middle and we were done.

Finding a piece of furniture from a store is hard sometimes. I like to use DIY projects! They are customizable and have the “rustic” look that I love!
